Where should you stay while in Telluride?

We often get clients who want to fly into Telluride to get a feel for the vibe before committing to buying a home. One of the most common questions they ask is “What are the best bed and breakfasts” or “Which hotel should I stay at in Telluride.” While there are no traditional bed and breakfasts in Telluride, there are several very good hotels to stay at.

The 12 listed below are the highest rated on Google and trip advisor. We also have several people in house who can speak to the excellent experience they received when staying at these hotels.

Fairmont Heritage Place Franz Klammer Lodge

This hotel has a whopping 4.9 out of 5-stars on Google and is only 7 miles away from the Telluride Regional Airport. They also won the certificate of excellence award by trip advisor in 2015. If you’re flying in to enjoy the mountain, Franz Klammer Lodge is only a few steps away from the gondola as well as a handful of other outdoor activities. Some of the amenities you’ll enjoy are 24 hour concierge service, the Himmel Spa, hot tubs, steam room, transportation to and from the airport, heated pool, family game room and business center.

The Peaks Resort & Spa

While this resort doesn’t have as high of ratings (4.1 out of 5-stars), it has way more reviews with 167 which means more people can speak to the all-around great experience they had by staying here. As a local favorite, that makes a lot of sense as it has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Telluride. The Peaks Resort & Spa comes with your choice of guest rooms and suites, penthouses, and the see forever village. This includes Ski-in/Ski-out & Golf-in/Golf-out access.

The Hotel Telluride

With over 688 reviews on trip advisor, The Hotel Telluride has a respectable 4.5 out of 5-stars with 73% of reviews rated as excellent and 20% as very good. They have multiple different packages to choose from including “Best in show” pet package, sled & soak, ski & sip, ski & stay package, the complete ski package, and the crack a coors on wilson peak package. The “crack a coors on wilson peak package” features the actual mountain on Coors Banquet and Coors Light beer cans!

Ice House Lodge

The Ice House Lodge has a 4.5 out of 5-star rating on TripAdvisor with 71% ranking it as excellent. It’s only 100 yards away from the gondola and just two blocks away from Main St., Town Park, and festival grounds. They also have special packages that include spa treatments, dinner at La Marmotte, and Demo Skis from Telluride Sports.

Inn at Lost Creek

The Inn at Lost Creek has 4.7 out of 5-stars on Google and a mind blowing 5 out of 5 stars on Trip Advisor over 1,015 reviews! 89% of the reviews are ranked as excellent while 8% are listed as very good. The remaining 3% are either average, poor, or terrible but those seem to be exceptions to the rule. It also has one of Telluride’s best restaurants and a prime, slope-side location with Ski-in/Ski-out access to the Village Express and Chondola. If you’re going off of rating alone, The Inn at Lost Creek is the hotel for you!

Camel’s Garden

The Camels Garden comes in at 4.5 stars out of 5 on both Google and Trip Advisor over 66 and 283 reviews respectively. They are the only hotel in Telluride that has a full-service spa, ski-rental, retail shops, and valet shop. Additionally, they are the only hotel on the Gondola Plaza which means the location doesn’t get much better as far as convenience to all the happenings in Telluride.

Hotel Columbia

The Hotel Columbia has a 4.5 out of 5-stars on trip advisor and a 4.8 out of 5-stars on Google. Like the other hotels on this list, you’re only “A snowball’s throw from the Gondola” as it’s right across from Telluride Gondola Station. The European hot breakfast is all the rage among guests, is complimentary and is served between 7:30AM and 9:30AM everyday. They are also among the most knowledgeable staff and are known for sharing their favorite places to go in and around Telluride. As a member of Conde Nast Johansens, which is a collection of luxery hotels, inns, and resorts, you know you’ll get the best possible experience you can while staying in Telluride.

Lumière Hotel

This hotel has a a 5 out of 5-stars on trip advisor as well as receiving the travelers choice award in 2017. They were also ranked the 2nd best hotel in Colorado by USA today, and are a Forbes 4-star award winner. Amenities include black tie ski valet, spa massage menu, soaking pool, hot tub, sauna, concierge, fitness center, pet friendly and the “LUMIÈRE HOTEL ESSENTIALS.”

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

The Mountain Lodge has 4.5 out of 5-stars on trip advisor as well as a 4.3 out of 5-stars on Google. The amenities include Ski-in/Ski-out, Wi-Fi, grocery shopping service, heated pool, hot tub, The View Bar & Grill, meeting & event facilities, shuttle service, concierge services, and a pet friendly hotel.

New Sheridan Hotel

The New Sheridan Hotel has 4.5 out of 5-stars on trip advisor and another 4.5 out of 5-stars on Google. This hotel has been around since 1895 and is located in the heart of Downtown Telluride. At only 26 available rooms and suites, you’ll want to reserve early during peak ski season as they will go fast due to the location.

The River Club

So far so good with The River Club as they have 5 out of 5-stars on Google and a solid 5 rating on trip advisor. Like the other hotels on this list, they are conveniently located on the banks of the San Miguel River just two blocks from the Gondola. They also have a personal chauffeur service whether it’s day or night for running errands, dropping you off for dinner, or taking your kids to ski school.

Madeline Hotel and Residences, an Auberge Collection

Coming in at a solid 4.5 out of 5-stars on Google and another 4.5-stars on trip advisor, you can’t go wrong with the Madeline Hotel and Residence. The views are what really capture the imagination as it sits mid-mountain overlooking Telluride rather than being right smack dab in the middle of it. Because of that you get a little more peace and quiet than if you were located in town.
