18 Oct It’s Snowing In Telluride
Telluride just received its first snowfall of the season, signaling that winter and ski season are just around the corner. We hope that makes you as excited as it does us! With that in mind, we wanted to talk you through some questions that we’ve been getting about what’s going on in Telluride and what will be happening this winter.
If you’re in Telluride this winter, please reach out and say hello, or better yet, let’s take some runs together!
WHAT’S THE OUTLOOK FOR SKIING THIS WINTER?
No matter what you believe in – Farmer’s Almanac, La Nina, El Nino – please PRAY FOR SNOW!
Opening day is scheduled for November 25th. Season passes, lift tickets, and ski school/private lessons are now available for advanced reservation and purchase online. If you’re looking for something more exclusive, more adventurous … check out Telluride Helitrax for some backcountry heli-skiing.
Exciting News! Telski just announced a $102M capital improvement campaign that will include: four new lifts including Lift 9 as a high speed quad and Lift 10 as a Gondola, improved snowmaking, restaurants, and hotel developments. Read the recent article in the Daily Planet HERE.
WHAT’S THE SCHEDULE OF DIRECT FLIGHTS INTO TELLURIDE/MONTROSE THIS WINTER?
The winter lineup includes direct flights into Montrose from: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, & San Francisco. There will also be multiple daily flights from Denver and a new daily flight from Phoenix into Telluride. See the complete schedule HERE.
Also of note, the Montrose Airport just announced a $33M plan to expand its terminal and capacity over the next 2 years. Read their press release HERE.
WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU RECOMMEND BESIDES SKIING?
- Ride a snowcat up the mountainside to a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience at 11,966 ft. Alpino Vino will not disappoint.
- Take an overnight excursion to the ghost town re-imagined as an exclusive, luxury resort – Dunton Hot Springs.
- Gather your family and your skates for some fun at the ice rink. Head to the Hanley Indoor Rink in Town or to Reflection Plaza by the Hotel Madeline in Mountain Village.
- Get creative! From painting and pottery to burlesque dancing, take a class at The Ah Haa School For The Arts in their new building.
- Schedule a private wine and delectable pairing class with Top Chef Eliza Gavin.
Most of these activities require pre-registration to comply with covid-safe procedures and may require proof of vaccination or a negative covid test.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CURRENT REAL ESTATE MARKET?
San Miguel County real estate sales have surpassed $1b through the end of September and are on track to eclipse last year’s $1.16b record. Read Telluride Properties 2021 3rd quarter market report HERE. Telluride is clearly maturing quickly and with its limited supply, suggests continued appreciation. Despite historically low inventories, Telluride Properties excels at finding properties and winning negotiations for buyers. As values continue to creep up, owners decide to sell, slowly introducing new inventory to the market. My website can email you alerts for new listings, price reductions, and more.
